Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Spectra (“the Software”), a desktop worship presentation application operated by Tolutronics Consulting Group (“we”, “us”, or “our”). Please read them carefully. By downloading, installing, or using Spectra, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Spectra, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, each incorporated here by reference. These Terms apply to every person and organization that uses the Software.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to purchase a subscription or agree to these Terms on your own behalf. If you use Spectra on behalf of a church or organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.
3. License to Use Spectra
3.1 License grant
Subject to these Terms and your active subscription, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use Spectra for your own personal or organizational worship, teaching, and ministry purposes.
3.2 Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- Copy, redistribute, resell, rent, lease, or sublicense the Software;
- Circumvent, disable, or tamper with licensing, activation, or usage limits;
- Use the Software to build or train a competing product or service;
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices; or
- Use the Software for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
3.3 Device activation
Spectra subscriptions are activated on a per-device basis. Each plan permits activation on a limited number of devices, and activation may involve associating your license with a device identifier so we can enforce those limits. You may move your activation between devices subject to the limits and any cooldown period applicable to your plan.
4. Subscriptions & Billing
4.1 Plans
Spectra offers a free tier (Glow) and paid subscription tiers (Beam and Spectrum). Feature availability, device limits, and other entitlements vary by tier as described on our pricing page. We may modify the features included in each tier with reasonable notice.
4.2 Free trial
Eligible new accounts may be offered a time-limited free trial of a paid tier. Trials are available once per account and once per device, require a confirmed email address, and do not require a payment method. When a trial ends without an active paid subscription, the account is downgraded to the free tier; your data is retained.
4.3 Billing & automatic renewal
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected) through our payment providers. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and your payment method is charged the then-current price for the next period, until you cancel. Depending on your location, checkout and billing are handled by Paddle or by Flutterwave, who act as our payment processors / merchant of record.
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account or billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which the account reverts to the free tier. Cancelling does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid.
4.5 Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
4.6 Price changes
We may change subscription prices from time to time. Price changes apply from your next billing period, and we will give you reasonable advance notice before a change takes effect. Your continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price; if you do not agree, you may cancel before the next renewal.
5. Bible Translations
Spectra provides access to multiple Bible translations. Some are in the public domain and may be used freely; others remain the copyright of their respective publishers, and all rights in those translations belong to their respective copyright holders. By using any translation within Spectra, you agree to the terms below.
5.1 Public-domain translations
The King James Version (KJV), American Standard Version (ASV), World English Bible (WEB), and Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) are in the public domain and may be displayed and used without restriction.
5.2 Permitted use of Bible text
You may display scripture within Spectra during worship services, Bible studies, and sermons, and you may record services that include displayed scripture. You may not extract, scrape, or bulk-copy Bible text from Spectra for use outside the Software, use it to build a competing product or database, or redistribute the underlying Bible text files independently of the Software.
6. Third-Party Services & Data
6.1 On-device speech processing
Spectra’s speech recognition and Bible-verse detection run entirely on your local machine. Sermon audio is processed on-device and is not streamed to us or to any third-party transcription service.
6.2 Sermon Notes (AI)
If you use the AI Sermon Notes feature, the sermon transcript (text, not audio) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate structured notes. Transcripts are processed to return your notes and are not used to train models. Do not use this feature for content you are not permitted to share with a third-party processor.
6.3 Account & billing providers
- Supabase — account authentication and storage of your account, subscription, and licensing records.
- Paddle and Flutterwave — payment processing and billing, depending on your region.
6.4 Error reporting & analytics
We use Sentry for crash and error reporting, and limited, privacy-respecting usage analytics, to keep the Software reliable. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is collected.
6.5 NDI® broadcasting
Spectra’s network video output uses NDI® technology. NDI® is a registered trademark of Vizrt Group, and its runtime is used under the NDI SDK license. Your use of NDI output is subject to those terms.
6.6 Open-source components
Spectra incorporates open-source software, each governed by its own license. A list of these components and their licenses is available within the application.
7. Your Content
7.1 Ownership
You retain all rights to the content you create or import in Spectra — including songs, slides, custom themes, sermon notes, and settings (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content. Your Content is stored locally on your device except where you choose to use a cloud feature (such as saved songs or cloud sermon-notes backup), in which case it is stored with our infrastructure provider to deliver that feature.
7.2 Responsibility
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have the rights to use any lyrics, images, video, or other material you import — including any church-licensing (e.g. CCLI) required to display song lyrics. We do not review, endorse, or assume responsibility for Your Content.
8. Software Updates
Spectra may automatically check for, download, and install updates. Some updates may be required for continued use or to address security issues. We may add, change, or remove features over time, and we are under no obligation to provide any particular update, feature, or ongoing maintenance.
9. Feedback
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use them without restriction or obligation to you.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Software is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that AI verse detection or transcription will be accurate in all conditions, or that it will be compatible with any particular hardware, display, or broadcast setup. You are responsible for verifying scripture references and for maintaining your own backups.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, goodwill, or service interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of the Software. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Software or these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us for the Software in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tolutronics Consulting Group and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Software, Your Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
13. Termination
13.1 By you
You may stop using the Software at any time by cancelling your subscription and uninstalling the Software.
13.2 By us
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Software or your account if you breach these Terms, fail to pay applicable fees, or use the Software in a way that may cause harm or legal exposure to us or others. Where reasonably practicable, we will give notice.
13.3 Effect of termination
On termination, your license to use the Software ends and you must stop using it. Sections that by their nature should survive — including Sections 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 15 — survive termination. Termination does not relieve you of payment obligations accrued before termination.
14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Lagos, Nigeria, except that either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property.
15. General
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Software and supersede any prior agreements.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that or any other provision.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
